West Middlewick Farm has long been a family run working farm with milking cows and sheep. The camp site has been established since 1933
and is situated on three acre level field with easy access, and stunning panoramic views over Exmoor. We have village shops within a
mile and great local pubs serving food. Visitors are welcome to watch the milking and other farming activities, if they wish, or just
take in the country air and fantastic walks and views. This site is ideal for touring, either North or the South Coast of Devon or
equally we are closely situated to Dartmoor and Exmoor.
Camping and caravanning
Campers and caravanners have been staying at West Middlewick campsite since 1933. The main site is a 4 acre field situated at the end
of a stone track with stunning views over Exmoor. Whether you are staying under canvas, in a caravan or motor home, you can enjoy the
sights of the farm and views over rural Devon from your window.
Just beneath the main camping field, we also have an overflow field (Mary's field), which is only suitable for tents. Some of our
campers request to stay in this field as it is literally just a field, no pitches, no electric hook-ups. A little more rustic! True,
it is a little further to walk to get water, and a little further away from the toilet and shower block , but the views are breath
taking and you can feel that bit more immersed in the countryside. Mary's field is open for July and August, if you'd prefer to stay
there just let us know when you book.
Stay in a log cabin in the Devonshire countryside
There are some of those among us who love the countryside but maybe aren't enamoured by the thought of camping! Well now we have
the perfect solution for a self catering holiday at West Middlewick! Two all wood large Transylvanian log cabins with ample parking.
Each cabin has a double room with ensuite facilities and two twin rooms with a family shower, with plenty of space to add a cot in
any of the rooms. The kitchens are kitted out with all the essentials, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Both have
a large veranda for all year round relaxation with wooden table and chairs.
West Middlewick Farm is a friendly traditional uncommercialised camping site on a working farm, beautifully located between the
Exmoor and Dartmoor. Our campsite is open 365 days and many of our campers return year after year and enjoy taking part in the
farming life. Whether you come as a family, as a couple or with friends you'll find a friendly Devonshire welcome waiting for
you when you arrive. Explore and enjoy our traditional working farm. We have dairy cows milked through a shippon, a small flock
of sheep, lambing all year round along with a few free range chickens.
Stroll over the fields or just sit and take in the country air and breathtaking views. Great pubs within walking distance ideal
for all day food and local ales. Witheridge is our local village with a newsagents, post office and general stores. Tesco and
Morrison’s are nine miles away in Tiverton. We are ideally situated for visiting Exmoor and Dartmoor and the nearest beaches
are 45 minutes by car. Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe are on the north coast. Exmouth and Sidmouth are the same distance on
the south coast. We are on the main bus routes just raise a thumb outside the farm entrance and be taken to Tiverton, Exeter,
South Molton, and Barnstaple and further if you wish. Market days in Tiverton are on a Tuesday, Friday and Saturday with South
Molton (10 miles) on a Thursday and Saturday. These markets are well worth a visit and for any Johnny Kingdom fans (the
naturalist) he has a stall at South Molton.
